 [+] Jenni Perdomo. Université de Montréal, Canada. OD Travel Scholarship
 
Jenni Perdomo is an anthropologist, Master in Socio-Spatial Studies and PhD candidate in Geography at the Université de Montréal with support from the Canada Research Chairs Program, and the Québec Research Fund for Society and Culture. She is a research associate of the Territorial Studies group of the Institute of Regional Studies of the Universidad de Antioquia. From an ethnographic perspective and a feminist political ecology approach, her doctoral research studies the socio-ecological transformations produced by oil palm monoculture in the last twenty years in the Magdalena Medio region of Colombia, and its effects in terms of gender and labor. She is supported by riverine and peasant communities in Colombia, who struggle for a dignified life in contexts of extractivism and war. Email

 [+] Alejandra Herrera Morales. Université de Montréal, Canada. OD Travel Scholarship
 
Alejandra Herrera Morales is a Construction Engineer, Industrial Designer, and holds an MSc in Sustainable Architectural Rehabilitation. She is currently a PhD student in interdisciplinary Environmental Design at the Université de Montréal. Her research focuses on the perspectives of cohabitation with water using Humberto Maturana’s systemic sensitivity approach. Her work has addressed topics such as the vulnerability of historical buildings to increased rainfall intensity and housing access in difficult terrain areas in Valparaíso, Chile. She has collaborated as an engineer on studies conducted by the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Valparaíso and served as a consulting engineer in the restoration of parks and buildings designated as national monuments of Chile. Her industrial design projects have been awarded three grants from Chilean state institutions. Email

 [+] Gabriela Martínez Nodarse. Universidad Central Las Villas, Cuba. PhD scholarship
 
Gabriela Martínez Nodarse, Architect graduated in 2020 from the Universidad Central "Marta Abreu" of Las Villas, where she is part of the Department of Architecture, teaching and researching. She participated as a student in works related to the ADAPTO Project, where she was involved in field work related to the resettlement of coastal communities in the Carahatas case study. In 2020 he participated in the competition launched by Archdaily "Low Cost House Design Competition" with the Modular House project that obtained Honorable Mention. In 2021 and 2022 she completed research internships at the University of Kassel, Germany with the Resilient Urban Regeneration project. She is currently working as a researcher in the Cuba team in the SUSTENTO Project and in parallel she is developing her doctoral research on issues of Food Security and Climate Change in compact cities.  [+] Paola Rodríguez. FLACSO, Ecuador. Master's scholarship
 
Paola Rodríguez Badillo, Ecuadorian, with a degree in Biology and in Social Communication with emphasis in educommunication, art and culture, both degrees obtained at the Universidad Central del Ecuador. She is a scholarship holder at FLACSO - Ecuador for the Master's degree in Socio-environmental Studies, call 2020 - 2022. She has collaborated in environmental education projects, horizontal and inclusive education, nature conservation and linking society and the environment. Currently, she is working on her master's thesis on the importance of urban family gardens to reduce vulnerability to climate and health risks in the neighborhood La Lucha de los Pobres, Quito, Ecuador.  [+] Francisca Salgado. Universidad del Bio Bio, Chile. Master's scholarship
 
Francisca Ignacia Salgado Rodríguez is an undergraduate student of Architecture at the Universidad del Bío-Bío since 2018. She is currently doing her final degree project, which is linked to alternative food systems (SAA) and their empowerment through architecture in the Nonguén sector, forming through a seminar held previously her interest in the SAA and how they work in neighborhoods of Concepción as the Nonguén Valley. Through the research conducted and the project she is currently designing, she aspires to devise new forms of healthy eating that contribute to vulnerable communities, both in the educational training that supports the system and in the optimal urban functioning of these.  [+] Rocio Cantillo. Universidad del Valle, Colombia. Master's Scholarship
 
Industrial designer and student of Master in Architecture and Urbanism. Research assistant at the Urban Intervention Laboratory - LIUR of the Universidad del Valle, Colombia. Her interests are focused on sustainable development and citizen participation in urban interventions, mainly in informal settlements and vulnerable communities. She participated as a Decathlete in the Solar Decathlon LAC sustainable housing competition, and was also part of the project "URBANIÑOS, an interactive approach to involve children in urban space intervention processes". She is currently developing her research in the SUSTENTO project addressing Alternative Food Systems as a risk management strategy to reduce vulnerability to landslides in urban informality environments.  [+] Diego Cardenas. Universidad del Bio Bio, Chile. Master's Scholarship
 
Diego Cárdenas Merino is an architect, student of the Latin American Masters in Architecture, and graduated in Architecture in 2020 with the project "Centro de Producción y Difusión Artesanal de Carácter Rural", he has focused his interest in local identity manifested through architecture and in the practical exercise of the profession. He has participated in several competitions, highlighting the "Rehabilitation of railway stations - Red trenzando", winning first place in the San Rosendo station. He is currently working with SUSTENTO as coordinator of microprojects at the Universidad del Bío-Bío, and is working on his project thesis based on a new possible methodology to work with the community and thus unveil new ways of approach between the academy and the territory.  [+] Harold Bellanger. Université de Montréal, Canada. OD Travel scholarship
 
Harold Bellanger is an environmental engineer and PhD student in human geography at the University of Montreal. He is currently researching how modern climate science through seasonal (6months) and subseasonal (weeks) climate forecast informs decision makers and users on food security issues. His interest is to identify and understand the power dynamics and communication between institutions and individuals involved in climate and food security issues. Together with SUSTENTO, which is funding his fieldwork, the aim is to explore alternative food systems in Guatemala. The objective of this research is to generate knowledge to understand how communities resist the conventional food system and thus explore the complexities of the food regime in general.

 [+] Gabriela Gonzales Faria. Université de Montréal, Canada. UMontreal PhD scholarship
 
Phd student at Université de Montréal, since 2021. Master in Advanced Architecture, specialized in Digital Tectonics at the Institute for Advanced Architecture of Catalonia, 2013. Architect, Universidad Privada Santa Cruz de la Sierra, 2009. Has been a professor in various courses of architecture at Universidad Pontificia Catolica in 2021 and Universidad Privada Franz Tamayo in 2014 (Bolivia). Has worked at Universidad Piloto de Colombia, as fabrication laboratory director and professor of architecture since 2016. Is a member of "Makers Colombia" and "Amics de Gaudi". Also, coordinated the research team of published research project developed at Santa Cruz de la Sierra, in the subjets of urban planning and quality of life, from 2013 to 2014. From 2009 to 2012, has worked in architectural and construction firms in Santa Cruz de la Sierra.
