Summary of the activities carried out in the first ADAPTO training in Concepción, Chile.

[+] First ADAPTO training: Adaptation to the new habitat. Concepción (January 2019)

The ADAPTO team met in Concepción, Chile and developed three sessions:

In the first session, a framing meeting was held between the ADAPTO participants who are developing the Barrios workshop and the participant of the Colombian NGO Antioquia Presente. This meeting focused on workshop progress and the ADAPTO corporation experience. Subsequently, a conference was held to learn about post-disaster resilience from the Salgar case.

The second session developed the training workshop for local agents of change. We discussed the adaptation processes in populations affected by climate change and/or disasters. Local leaders, teachers, students of the UBB and public officials also attended this activity.

In the third session, participants visited the community of Valle de Nonguen to see the community work experience up close. The community shared its interest in joining forces with ADAPTO and presented local climate change adaptation initiatives.

The community also presented a summary of the effects of climate change observed since 2006. They presented the floods caused by excess rainfall and the overflow of the Nonguen estuary that surrounds the sector.

Finally, participants visited the community of the Bellavista neighborhood in Tomé for a follow-up focus group with the Vertical Community Garden project, built during the first year of the ADAPTO project.
