An implementation workshop called "Adaptation to Climate Change in informal settlements" was held between March 2 and 10, 2018 in Cali, Colombia. The main purpose of this workshop, organized by Universidad del Valle, was to exchange micro-project implementation experiences between different informal settlements. In parallel to this event, the International Forum of Local Initiatives and the International Student Workshop "Conviviendo con el Agua" were developed.

 

 [+] 2nd Workshop / research seminar of the members of the ADAPTO project
 
This workshop took place between March 7 and 9, 2019. A series of meetings and work sessions about the implementation methodology were held to analyze the main implementation issues within ADAPTO’s climate change projects. Project management and coordination meetings were also held exclusively with the IDRC project researchers.

 [+] International Forum of Local Initiatives and Collaboration Agreement
 
The "Local initiatives for climate change in Latin America and the Caribbean" International Forum, aimed to generate dialogue between the different actors (governmental, academic, community and private) and to ultimately improve management of urban micro-projects.

In accordance with the Forum’s framework to achieve commitments, a Collaboration Agreement was signed among more than 50 local and foreign actors, including representatives of the Yumbo planning office and several community representatives affected by climate change effects in the region.

 [+] International student workshop "Conviviendo con el agua"
 
This workshop-seminar was held between March 2 and 11, 2019. It was the result of a series of joint activities between Université de Montréal’s School of Architecture and Universidad del Valle’s School of Architecture in Yumbo and Cali, Colombia. Guided by Colombian and Canadian professors, students from different programs and countries worked in teams, including Canadian architecture and urban planning students from Université de Montréal and McGill University; Colombian students from Universidad del Valle; a Cuban student from Universidad Central Marta Abreu; and a Chilean student from Universidad del Bio-Bio. The workshop explored the problems of informal neighborhoods in Yumbo and their complex relationship with water.

In addition to IRDC funds, this workshop benefited from funding from the Ministry of Education of Quebec (through the Directorate of International Affairs-DAI-UdeM), a contribution from the Observatory Oeuvre Durable, and a financial contribution from the UdeM School of Architecture.
